Perioperative patient positioning following scalp tumor surgery: an anesthetic challenge

Abstract Background Spindle cell tumors of the scalp are notorious for their potential to present with torrential life-threatening bleeds during surgery and in postoperative period. We successful management one such case. Case presentation A 54-year-old male was operated on a huge spindle tumor located occipital area. During surgery, blood loss 2 l replaced crystalloids, colloids, packed red cells. However, change position from prone supine immediately after patient developed sudden bleeding surgical site, leading asystole cardiac arrest. The revived put ventilatory support 1 day intensive care unit. He could be discharged successfully without sequelae. Conclusions Positioning vascular should gentle, slow, monitored. Sudden movements predispose patients secondary hemorrhage, which life-threatening.
